Korea International Water Week (KIWW) was established as a follow-up to the 7th World Water Forum held in South Korea in 2015. Korea International Water Week has been playing a pivotal platform connecting policies with practice and link technologies with implementation, by engaging central and local governments, businesses, NGOs, academia, research institutes, and citizens.

This year KIWW2025 presented the Global Partnership Forum - Development Cooperation for Water Security and Global Youth Program with the vision of its role in bridging the gap in technologies, regions and generations in water sector.

Water Expo provided co-creating spaces for multilateral partnership in combination with thematic pavilions including AI and Water, Ultrapure Water, Non-Revenue Water (NRW) reduction as well as Cooperation Hub Pavilion.

KIWW has become a platform for sharing sustainable water management visions for humanity and nature, as well as for exploring avenues for collaboration and the exchange of experiences and technologies. KIWW2025 welcomed over 9,000 participants from 53 countries to share diverse experiences and technologies and to strengthen cooperation in addressing and tackling water related challenges.

  • AI and Water Keynote speech by Professor Joon Ha Kim of GIST on “the WAX (Water AI Transformation) Paradigm: Waxing the water industry – evolving to reach its full potential” left a strong impression by leading the water future vision with AI in water management. The Special Session on “Smart-up Driven Innovation Strategies for Next-Generation Water Management Technologies” in line with the Special Thematic Pavilion on “AI and Water” showcased cutting-edge developments in AI, digital twins, cloud platforms and automation technologies applied to water resources, treatment, and infrastructure systems.
  • 7 Special Sessions were organized in close collaboration and partnership with various organizations, enterprises and academia, on Ultrapure Water and Non Revenue Water (NRW) reduction, Industrial Wastewater treatment and reuse, Agricultural Irrigation, Seawater Desalination and Hydropower.
  • 8 TIP (Technology. Implementation. Policy) Platform sessions presented a diversity of topics and case studies from all around the world including Korea, Australia, Finland, India, Indonesia, Oman and US.
  • 7 Finalists of World Water Challenge 2025 presented their solutions under Smart Technology, Appropriate Technology and Environment Preservation Technology categories.

  • 78 Enterprises participated at the Water EXPO during KIWW2025 and had business consultation meetings with invited international buyers from Viet Nam, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the Dominican Republic. Additionally, docent tours of the exhibition hall provided extensive in-depth visits to the participating companies and institutions visitors and academic participants. Water Expo Special Thematic Pavilions including AI and Water, Ultrapure Water, Non-Revenue Water (NRW) reduction as well as Cooperation Hub Pavilion, provided co-creating spaces for multilateral partnership. Especially the Cooperation Hub co-organized by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment of Korea, K-water, Korea Environment corporation, Korea Rural Community corporation, Korea Hydro Nuclear Power, and Korea Institute of Hydrological Survey displayed various important water projects globally enhancing water security and partnership through Financing, Policy and Current issues & needs..
